With just a few simple tools and supplies, you can begin twisting and hammering your way to some unique and original wearable art. Here at Art & Soul, we offer a variety of workshops and classes to help get you started. If you are brand new to jewelrymaking, wireworking is a great way to start. If you are already doing a lot of beading, the addition of metalsmithing skills will add greatly to the originality and creativity of your designs. From making clasps and findings, to hand forging and hammering your own chains and links, there are so many ways you can incorporate metal into your repertoire. _________________________________________ Metalsmithing Classes & Workshops
Wire & Bead Jewelry with Lis-el Crowley In this one night class, you will learn about the properties, gauges and types of wire, the best tools for working with wire, and proper wire working techniques. You will complete clasps and other jewerly items utilizing appropriate gauged wire for the projects you select. You will also learn basic wire-wrapping of a variety of beads which you can incorporate into your designs. A great combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands on experience, this class will give you a solid foundation to help kickstart your metalsmithing experience. All tools and materials are available for use and purchase. You are also welcome to bring your own. Tuition - $28 plus materials which will vary based on items used. _________________________________________ Fused Fine Silver Chain with Lis-el Crowley Fine Silver can be fused together with a torch without the use of flux, solder, pickle, etc. During the fusing process, you can also melt the silver to create more free-form shapes which are lots of fun and very unique looking. During this class, you will learn how to create your own free-form pieces from fine silver wire, which can be used to make unique and beautiful jewelry. Tuition - $28 plus materials _________________________________________ Forged & Hammered Link Chain with Lis-el Crowley Learn to solder, pickle, hammer, assemble and polish a beautiful hand forged chain link necklace or bracelet in this dynamic and exciting class. You will learn to create each link by hand using a heavy gauge of silver wire. You will also learn about the best tools and supplies for this type of product. You can texture, shape and distress each link, or leave it smooth, according to your taste. These hand forged chains are so much fun you'll want to make several. We also sell silver, beads and other supplies and can advise you on what you will need to get your home studio started.
