Media

Gallery

We carry a wide variety of Media both for sale in our gallery shop, and to work with in our studio. In the gallery shop we have a large selection of ceramics ranging in styles techniques and price range from several different artists (including the proprieters). We also have some fiber pieces, found object sculptures, wall hangings, photography, paintings, wood, lamps, painted glass, blown glass, stained glass, and last but certainly not least, jewelry. Don't forget, we're always looking for more, so if you or anyone you know is doing interesting things with different media and is interested in selling it at our shop, contact us to make an appointment!

 Studio

Here are a list of the different Media we have to work with in our studio, along with a short description and links to what we have to offer in each.

Metal Clay

metal clay

One of the most exciting and innovative new media to arrive on the artisitc scene, Metal Clay offers a tremendous amount of creative freedom. Introduced 15 years ago in Japan, metal clay comes in silver, gold, copper, bronze and stainless steel. At Art & Soul we specialize in working with and teaching classes in fine silver metal clay and are in the process of adding bronze and other metals to our repertoire.

Metalsmithing

(this site is still under construction, more pictures to be added later)

Metalsmithing is a more traditional form of making jewelry, involving hammering, bending, and soldering with sheet metal and wire. Once again we specialize in silver.

Fused Glass

fused glass

Easy and adaptable, fused glass can be combined with and made into many things. The glass is cut and layered and then fused together in a kiln. People have been known to make things from plates to wine stoppers to wall hangings, but we specialize in smaller cabachons for jewelry (and maybe wine stoppers too)

Enamel

(this site is still under construction, more pictures to be added later)

Another of the more traditional form of jewelry making, enameling has been around for quite some time. Enameling involves sifting powdered glass onto metal and then firing it at a very high temperature for a very short time in a kiln. This is one of our more instantly gratifying media. We offer both enameling on copper (we have several copper blanks to offer including small dishes) and enameling on silver.

Painted Glass

(this site is still under construction, more pictures to be added later)

Self-explanatory. Paint-on-glass. With special glass paints and refreshments!

Painted Scarves

(this site is still under construction, more pictures to be added later)

Also self-explanatory. Paint-on-scarves. With special silk paints and refreshments!
