Fused Glass - Welcome to a New Addiction

Shimmering colors, fiery heat, creative stimulation, beautiful results all await you in the fun and fabulous world of glass fusing. You would be surprised how easy it is to create stunningly beautiful designs which can be made into jewelry, tiles, drawer pulls, magnets, mosaics, and whatever else you can think of.

As an artisan, I have worked in many media and have been teaching classes and workshops for many years. Fused glass is one of those techniques that can be extremely gratifying from the very beginning. People who have felt creatively challenged for years, and are total beginners, can make pieces that take your breath away. I have seen everyone from 9 year olds to seniors create breathtakingly beautiful pieces. What an empowering experience it is for them. I've seen Artists and artisans find a new means of expression that is exciting and stimulating. Whether creating small cabochons for jewelry and other uses, or larger pieces like bowls, dishes, and even sinks, the magic of layering colors and seeing them bond and transform from the kiln is exciting and always surprising.

Basic Fused Glass with Wayne Martin
Wednesday Evenings - 6:30 p.m.
Offered May 7, May 21, June 11, June 25, July 9 & July 23

This one night class will teach you how to layer colored, dichroic and clear glass in a variety of ways to create shimmering and beautiful jewelry sized cabochons. This class will cover types of glass, compatability, cutting glass, desigining your piece for shape and color, and more. Because of the huge pallette of colors we always have on hand here at Art & Soul, the design possibilities are endless.

Tuition - $28 plus materials which varies based on glass used

Advanced Fused Glass with Lis-el Crowley
Thursday Evenings - 6:30 p.m.
Offered May 15, & July 10

If you want to take your fusing further, you can learn to embed fine silver wire and balls into your designs, include high temperature wire to create fired in jump rings, and even embed cubic zirconias into the glass. Lis-el can also show you how to create handmade silver bails and rings for finishing your pieces.

Bench Time - Kilns,
Tools and Supplies

Want to continue fusing glass, but don't want to buy a kiln or don't have room for a studio? Take advantage of Bench Time here at Art & Soul. For $5 per hour, you can create to your heart's content in our studio. You can select from our huge pallette of colored and dichroic glass and pay only for the glass you actually use. We will fire your pieces for you at no extra charge.

If you do want to set up a home studio, we are distributors for Paragon Kilns and sell them typically at 20% off retail. We also sell glass, tools and supplies and can advise you on what you will need to get your home studio started.
