During this one day workshop you will truly immerse yourself into working with Metal Clay.

We will cover care and use of metal clay, forms of metal clay, tools and supplies, basic construction, rolling, texturing, cutting, coiling, layering and joining as you make a beautiful layered pendant.


We will then progress to stone setting, the use of the syringe, setting fused glass and more. We will also cover sanding, firing, brushing, polishing and applying patinas. You will create several beautiful pieces as faerie medallion you learn the skills to create with this magical product.

One day workshop - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During this fun class you will learn how to use coils and balls of clay to create a whimsical yet elegant setting for sparkling cubic zirconias. You will learn how to create a bezel, sand it smooth, and then attach the coils and balls in your choice of shape and design. These pendants are addictive! Once you've made one, you'll want to make 100!

Learn several methods for creating rings using metal clay by working directly on a mandrel. We will explore using a mandrel, sizing, allowing for shrinkage, setting stones and or glass, decorating with syringe, using coils, texturing and shaping rings. The possibilities are endless in this fun and exciting class.

The beauty of metal clay is that it can be shaped and molded to create depth and dimension without a lot of bulk. During this class, you will learn how to create a dimensional mold out of polymer clay. Once this mold is baked, it can be used over and over again to drape metal clay over, giving you a basic shape which you can then embellish and alter any way you would like.

In order to become a certified instructor, you must successfully complete the Level One Certification course. This course is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of Art Clay. The curriculum consists of seven different projects taught over 24 hours of instruction (typically three eight hour days), and covers a variety of techniques. Some of the techniques include use of organic forms, creating flat and round-shank rings, addition and firing of gemstones and glass, creating a mirror finish, and much more. This course provides general and technical information, as well as some helpful teaching guidelines.

Upon successful completion of this course, you are entitled to:

  1. 35% discount on Art Clay Silver Series products
  2. Teach Art Clay Introductory classes
  3. Take the Senior Level Certification Course

This is a three day workshop which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wire & Bead Jewelry with Lis-el Crowley
Thursday, February 4 - 6:30 p.m.

In this one night class, you will learn about the properties, gauges and types of wire, the best tools for working with wire, and proper wire working techniques. You will complete clasps and other jewerly items utilizing appropriate gauged wire for the projects you select. You will also learn basic wire-wrapping of a variety of beads which you can incorporate into your designs. A great combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands on experience, this class will give you a solid foundation to help kickstart your metalsmithing experience.

All tools and materials are available for use and purchase. You are also welcome to bring your own.

Fine Silver can be fused together with a torch without the use of flux, solder, pickle, etc. During the fusing process, you can also melt the silver to create more free-form shapes which are lots of fun and very unique looking. During this class, you will learn how to create your own free-form pieces from fine silver wire, which can be used to make unique and beautiful jewelry.

This one night class will teach you how to layer colored, dichroic and clear glass in a variety of ways to create shimmering and beautiful jewelry sized cabochons. This class will cover types of glass, compatability, cutting glass, desigining your piece for shape and color, and more. Because of the huge pallette of colors we always have on hand here at Art & Soul, the design possibilities are endless.

Bench Time - Kilns, Tools and Supplies

Want to continue fusing glass, but don't want to buy a kiln or don't have room for a studio? Take advantage of Bench Time here at Art & Soul. For $5 per hour, you can create to your heart's content in our studio. You can select from our huge pallette of colored and dichroic glass and pay only for the glass you actually use. We will fire your pieces for you at no extra charge.

If you do want to set up a home studio, we are distributors for Paragon Kilns and sell them typically at 20% off retail. We also sell glass, tools and supplies and can advise you on what you will need to get your home studio started.
